EASY BANKING…still a long way to go


Last time my visit to a bank was something of an anticlimax. I had to deposit some amount to my account. Because it was my first time, I didn’t hesitate to inquire with the receptionist about where I could deposit my money. I was not expecting this from her but she said ‘the deposit counter may be over there sir’, then I had no choice but to ask to a customer standing besides me. And he was quite sure about the location of the counter in the bank.
          Moreover, I was in a queue for a period of time and then when it was my turn, I asked the teller about how would I know about my account and what should I do if I didn’t know my account number and she disappointed me by saying me in a uncomfortable way that, ‘I don’t know precisely, but u have to be sure about your account number.’, Which was not the answer to my question.  
                                                                             I just want to say that how easily several banks spend lakhs of rupees in the advertisement and try to prove that banking is so easy in the respective banks but forget that their own employees haven’t understood the banking yet. Banking is one of the assets of the finance aspect of any country. And we have to make our banking service very efficient and easy to use so that an ordinary man can easily experience banking. At least a guard should know where reception is, a receptionist should know where counters are and the other employees holding high posts should be of enough insight, knowing a little more won’t harm anyone but it can be far more beneficial to others. We customers would like to receive a smile from an employee while he opens the gate for us to the bank, not a disgusting facial expression.
                                                                                                Several banks launch different schemes and programmes for banking with villagers and people living in rural areas. But now I think that those programmes go in vain because banking is still a tough job in the capital city of our country. Most of the people who don’t have any experience will always be perplexed and lost in a bank in the current situation, policy and service of a bank in our country. So being a customer, I would like to appeal to all those bankers to inspire the employees to improve their attitude and adequacy in order to render a great banking service to all us Nepalese.
